CNC Machine Tools

CNC (computer numerical control) machine tools are designed for extremely precise removal of metal. They are operated by a computer which calculates the desired path of the cutting mechanism, and then translates that information into precise movements. If a change is desired in the design, the new information can be easily fed into the computer.

CNC machine tools have revolutionized the fabrication industry. Many complex shapes and curves can be easily manufactured using these devices. As the technology improves, these machines are becoming more capable of creating even more complex designs.

Because most CNC machine tools are expensive, they are rarely found in home workshops. These machines are primarily designed for heavy industrial applications. Several of these devices can be linked together to create components that require several operations before they are completed.
